Beginning with God helps parents with young children to explore the Bible with their child.
Part of the Beginning with God series.
'Taste and see that the Lord is good.' - Psalm 34 v 8
Beginning with God helps parents with young children to explore the Bible with their child. This book provides a simple way to start your child in a regular habit of reading God's Word and growing to know God, who loves them.
We hope this book will help you and your child to explore the Bible together. Along the way you will meet King David; read about God’s special messengers to his people in the Old Testament; and be thrilled by the wonderful things said and done by God’s perfect Son, Jesus. But most of all, we hope that reading God's special book, the Bible, will help your child to know God, who loves them.
In today's culture so much pressure is put on us to feed our children well. We pray that this material will help those of us with pre-schoolers to nourish them with the word of God.
Each day is split into the following sections:
The main course: read today's true story from the Bible; answer some simple questions; pray together; then stick in today's colourful picture of the story.
Appetiser: an optional activity to grab your child's attention before the story.
A snack for the journey: a conversation to have while out and about.
Make it and munch it: optional craft activities to help your child remember today's true story.
Colourful sticker set included with book.

Easy enough to do with no prep required, so is actually doable/achievable. Would be great if it had a video resource of the same bible stories to supplement. Probably still slightly advanced for my 27 month old, but achievable with repetition.
We are revisiting this series with out daughter after using them with our son.
Now our son reads the bible story as we come together as a family to explore God's word together.
Our three year old has loved listening to the passage, answering the questions and praying together.
I would recommend this series to all preschool families
A great resource for teaching toddlers the stories of the Bible and applying them to their lives - we use it with them in Sunday School.
Bought the bundle for my 3 year old and so far can be adapted to use with a different children's bible which is useful. Well pitched for attention span with some fun ideas to engage, and stickers are always a win (although our book 1 stickers were not all present and correct, but hopefully this will not be the case for everyone).
I think this is an excellent resource. I always have sth I can use for the suggested intro activity that I can lay my hands on in a couple of minutes so I'm not put off doing it by lengthy prep. It's repetitive in its format which is great for a preschooler, brief enough to be manageable daily(ish!), and engaging enough that they are keen to do it more often than not. I bought all three books after just a few days of the first one!
Revisiting this with my nearly 5 year old child who enjoyed these as a toddler. It is excellent. She is enjoying engaging more with it this time around. The hands up (wow God!) And hands in prayer section is short for their limited attention spans.
We also used this as a crèche team for the main teaching curriculum for over a year.
Children this age can repeat several times over in many contexts and still benefit every time.
It is currently helping our daily devotional times to be concise, practical and enable me to have in mind teaching as we go through the day together. Priceless moments of teaching for very little parental effort. We use it for our home education morning time as a family group as well. It would also easily be a good outreach event programme for a toddler group etc. It makes a great gift for others in your church or who are interested in their children learning the Bible who have no understanding themselves.
Thanks for a great resource!
I bought the Daily Bible Readings, in appropriate ages, for my 2 grand daughters. They are excellent, as are all books sold by the GoodBook Company.
I've used The Beginner's Bible for a while and made-up my own activities. Stumbled upon this resource and it's fantastic. My 2 1/2 year old loves it but could easily be adapted for up to 5/6 year olds.
Fun activities and thoughtful questions all with the bonus of getting a sticker when completed!!
Really good. Can do as much or as little as suits you. Kids love the stickers and great use of repetition for starting prayers & actions. Thoroughly recommend
'Beginning with God: Book 3' is excellent! We have been using it with our 3 year old and he thoroughly enjoys it. He loves to do the introductory task, answer the questions on the passage, put his hands up in the air with excitement about what we've learned about God (and say 'wow' very loudly!) and of course, put the sticker up on the wall to map out our Bible overview. Thank you GBC!
