Tim Keller is a fantastic scholar, preacher and author. Love his exegetical approach to Scripture and found his teaching on Romans very helpful.
An excellent study of some very vital but complex scriptures. I thouroughly recommend this book.
So clear and accessible. Couldnāt put it down!
Excellent study on Romans, really helped me understand the importance of the gospel. Very well written and easy to understand complex issues of scripture.
Keller absolutely hits a home run with this series on Romans! The 16 chapters that make up the book of Romans contain no small amount of majestic teaching. Romans teaches on important topics such as the nature of God (and His righteousness specifically), mankind and their sinfulness, justification by faith alone, the Christian life in dealing with sin, the Holy Spirit, election, Israel and the church, civil authority, Christian liberty issues, and more. In other words, there is a lot to cover in this wonderful book of the Bible! And yet Keller so humbly, wisely, and pastorally (and I donāt use that term loosely; Keller teaches the Bible with the warmth of a shepherd caring for his sheep) works verse by verse through this glorious book. I would recommend this book for that reason alone! Another important aspect of this series of books written by Keller that I want to point out is how Keller approaches the difficult topics found in Romans. Whether it be election or homosexuality, Keller is very thorough in his treatment, and yet quite concise. He says a lot with few words! This is again where Kellerās wisdom shines forth. He does an amazing job of expositing the text in a very clear and understandable manner. He doesnāt stop there, though. He also helps the reader to apply the teaching to life. This is also where the questions at the end of the chapter are rather helpful.
I absolutely love this set of books by Keller! These are only the second (and third) volumes that Iāve read in the āGodās Word for Youā series, and I have found them to be excellent guides to better understanding Godās Word, and to better applying that Word to my life. For this reason, I canāt recommend these books on Romans enough! Buy them both, and be amazed at Godās Word and the glorious Christ that they are about! Take up and read.
We're using this in our home group and it's very helpful in understanding Romans. It provides a good background, easy to understand comments, and excellent discussion questions. We're also using it with the "Good Book Guide to Romans", also by Timothy Keller, that serves as a companion for the more detailed "Romans for You".
It is good and excellent
I find Timothy Keller Romans 1 to 7 a brilliant book. It gives a thorough understanding of Romans and teaches so much. it shows where believers are and their understanding of salvation and how easy it is to live life in a direction where people depend on their own righteousness rather than on the Almighty and that they have lost their way,
Romans is fantastic a great teaching letter.
I believe that the book adds to the understanding of Romans
which was used for the unification of the churches to help spread Christianity through the roman empire and to civilisation as we know it.
The book is better than a study and time should be spent going through it. Notes should be written to help mediate on its contents
Well done Timothy and the good book organisation
Keep up the work and the effort
Romans is really the outline of the Gospel. But it can be a little hard to access at first. Tim Keller breaks Paul's letter to the Romans down in a way that is accessible to everyone from brand new Christians to Professors of Theology. I will be recommending it to my Bible Study for this fall.
I've been a Christian a long time, but these books were completely mind blowing. Paul goes through so many basic parts of Christianity that it can be easy to forget. Tim Keller puts it in a really simple explanation, even when dealing with tricky biblical doctrines. A must read for young and old Christians!
