The cross ... Scandalous? Absurd? A mistake?

The Cross and the crucifixion of Christ are central to the Christian faith. At the cross God exposes our deepest need, meets it fully and enables us to live transformed lives.

In his book Cross Examined, Mark Meynell takes a familiar and ancient story and without watering down or changing it, brings it to life for a modern audience.

This is one of the two best short books I know on the meaning of the death of Christ. I commend it warmly. Understandably, not everyone can manage Stott's magisterial 'The Cross of Christ', given its length.

In 'Cross Examined', Mark Meynell has provided us with a book which is thoughtful, accessible, theological and well-applied. It's become a modern classic, and rightly so.

(My other favourite is James Philip's Didasko File, The Glory of the Cross'.)
