We recently interviewed author Mike McKinley about his new book, 'The Resurrection in Your Life: How the living Christ changes your world’. Here are some of the questions he tackles in this short interview:
0:08 - What is the book about?
0:36 - Why does the book cover the end of Luke and the beginning of Acts?
1:20 - Doesn’t the resurrection just prove that Jesus is who he said he is?
2:06 - How important is the doctrine of the ascension?
2:50 - How does this book follow on from The Cross in Your Life (formerly titled Passion)?
3:23 - What struck you as you wrote the book?
4:19 - What is your prayer for the book?
The resurrection matters. You know that already if you are a Christian; but do you know why? Mike McKinley explains in this 1 minute video:
I love stories. Some of my favorite childhood memories are set in my hometown’s local library, where I would load up on books to devour on long summer days. (Yes, I was a major nerd, thanks for asking.)
Now that I have five kids of my own, I spend far more time reading stories to them than I do working through the stacks of novels on my bedside table. And whether it is reading Cinderella to my preschool set or Around the World in 80 Days to my older kids, most great stories seem to follow the same basic outline. First, there’s an introduction to the main character and his or her world (meet Cinderella). Next up comes the main character’s problem (Cinderella’s family is unkind to her), and then a potential solution that holds the promise of happiness (a fairy godmother and a good-looking prince!) But then, just when you think things are going to end well, there’s a crisis that calls everything into question (the stroke of midnight!) Only at the end do we get the final resolution that makes sense of the crisis and assures the happiness of the main character (a duke with a glass slipper and a whole bunch of happily ever after!)... continue reading
Here’s a fantastic new infographic from Josh Byers and Zach Dietrich, ‘Did Jesus rise from the dead?’:
As it says at the bottom of the infographic, ‘the most plausible explanation of the facts of the resurrection is that God raised Jesus from the dead!’ But why does it actually matter right here and right now?
This week at The Good Book Company, we’re very excited to be launching Mike McKinley’s new book, The Resurrection in Your Life: How the living Christ changes your world.
Mike’s new book takes the fact that God raised Jesus from the dead and shows how that changes everything in every way.

Watching porn with your spouse certainly takes away the secrecy of the experience, but there are still some tough questions to be asked about why you would want to watch other people simulate pleasurable sex (sometimes under coerced conditions).
If you have problems in your sexual relationship, this can be very distressing, but there are more reputable books written by sex therapists where you can look for solutions to the problems you may be having. "I have always believed that at the heart of Romans 8 you have the secret to really using the gospel in your heart to change yourself in a profound way." Tim Keller
Romans 8-16 For You by Tim Keller is available to buy now from our website.
Romans 12:1-2 shows us the way to overcome spiritual stagnation or ongoing disobedience; the way to bring our hearts joyfully to offer ourselves wholly:
1. View the mercies of God. (KJV and ESV have “mercies” instead of “mercy”; we are not to think of God’s mercy in general, but his specific acts and deeds—supremely, to look back at the cross.) If we lack a passion or interest in being holy, it comes from a failure to contemplate God’s mercies toward us. There is no way to sustain a pattern of holiness in Christian living without a kindling of our hearts by deep meditation on God’s mercy and grace; we need to begin reflecting on the mercies of God.... continue reading
