As a parent, I want my children to be shaped and influenced by the steadfast lives of other Christians. Who Were Your Spiritual Heroes?

Amber Thiessen, 15 Mar 2021

Corrie Ten Boom is an amazing woman. This children's story tells us about the intention of her heart to help Jewish people, God's provision of a Bible during her time in the concentration camp, and her message, "that there's no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still."... continue reading

"a great young readers’ introduction to this famously faithful Christian"

Bethany Davidson, 18 Apr 2021

This is a great resource for churches, families, Christian schools, and homeschoolers. The biography is brief and historically accurate, and designed to hold a child’s attention. The author gives just the right amount of information for young children to understand, without losing their attention or overwhelming them with heavy details about the war.... continue reading

"This children's book details Corrie’s courage, forgiveness, and even remarkable joy as she is imprisoned"

Ellen Finstad, 27 Apr 2021

This children's book details Corrie’s courage, forgiveness, and even remarkable joy as she is imprisoned for hiding and helping the Jewish people trapped in the Netherlands. As the timeline at the end of the book shares, “Corrie taught us to trust God in every situation and to find in Him the strength to forgive, even when it’s really hard.” I thought the book handled WWII age-appropriately for the young kids who will be reading the book.... continue reading

“A great book , used it during our VBS week at our missions station.”

A great book for young kids telling about the life of Corrie Ten Boom and what she did to help and show love to those she didn’t even know. Mission at work fulfilling the Acts 1:8 mandate , to the ends of the earth.

“Simple, but powerful”

Such a big fan of this series!
As Corrie’s testimony has been impactful in my own faith and walk with the Lord, I was so excited to have a resource to introduce Corrie’s story to my young girls. The illustrations are engaging and the narrative is simple, yet powerful. With quotes of Scripture throughout, this picture book for young readers highlights the presence of God in the midst of life’s deepest pits. Highly recommend!

“Great Intro Into Corre ten Boom”

I pre-ordered this book, and was delighted when it came. My two girls loved hearing the story and we have read it and re-read it. It appropriately handles the material for ages 4-8. The story is simple, communicates Corrie's desire to help the Jews and that desire is rooted in her love for Jesus. The pictures are wonderful and easy to look at. My kids love looking at all the unique clocks in the pictures (Corrie repaired clocks). This book is an easy foundation to plant seeds of inspiring saints who went before us who did great things for God in the time they lived and with the talents they had. I'm confident that God will use this series to inspire and challenge children to learn more as they grow and see that God can use them where ever they are and in with whatever gifts and desires they have. We love this book!

“Unique Biography”

What I like about the book:

The goal of the series- introducing spiritual heroes to younger children. Introducing biographies. For educators, this means non-fiction text that is connected to our Christian worldview.
The illustrations are beautiful, well done, warm, and effectively communicate to the target age group of 4-8-year-olds.
Conversations can be had with the content learned about Corrie Ten-Boom's life.
Well-chosen content of her life shared appropriately.
Time-line of her life at the end of the book.
Verses mentioned are referenced on the page.

What I wonder about the book:

She lived in a "higgledy-piggledy house" I'm not sure why this descriptor is here- I looked it up and it means confused or disorder.

Thankful to partner with GoodBooks and review a pdf of this book.
