Description

The strange language, the weird descriptions, the complicated historical details - we wonder what God intended us to get from books like Isaiah. And yet, Isaiah is frequently quoted in the New Testament and tells us much about God's plan of salvation. It's a book we should read.

Two Cities is designed to help us get a grip on - and be gripped by - the message of Isaiah. It cuts a highway through the 'branches', 'stumps' and 'deserts' that are scattered across Isaiah's terrain. It takes us to a two-way intersection and shows us the road to the city of destruction and the road to the city of God. Two Cities draws together the meaning of Isaiah's many prophesies of woe and songs of praise. We come to see that, as Isaiah prophesied, Christ is both our servant and our King.

Ideal for both individual and small group study.

“exciting”

Excellent book to study in a small group.
Thought provoking.
The book of Isaiah is as relevant relevant today as it was in the time it was written.

“Great study guide”

As a church we are all using this guide in our house groups. The questions are good but could do with some better "ice-breaker" type questions to get people talking and thinking about the issues. Overall, this guide gives a great overview of the book of Isaiah, God's glorious splendour & majesty and his amazing plan for us as his created people.

“very good study guide”

We have enjoyed using this study guide. It has made us work.We have been challenged and blessed as we have seen something of the majesty of God shining through and have been reminded time and time again that He IS in control whatever the circumstances.

“A challenging and worthwhile study”

We are using this study with 2 housegroups- it requires a lot of preparation from the leader, I have found it helpful to use a commentary on Isaiah beforehand. We are finding the studies challenging, we are digging deeper and finding out more about the passage and applying lessons to our lives. we are enjoying the more in-depth discussions each time. It is good to work out the answers to the questions for ourselves.

“Good guide which gets you involved.”

This guide does get you to think about what is going on in Isaiah. The older people from our group who are in their 70's found the material hard to understand but they reluctantly had to admit that it did get them thinking and as they progressed through it did provide the answers.
It is brilliant in that it does pick out the highlights of the book and explains why.
I used this guide as I did not want us to say that we were plodding through Isaiah for our Bible study.
