These workbooks with unit 5 are particularly excellent. More to do than some of the other child components. Beautiful quality and colour, fun shapes to stick in each week and some writing too. Used these with our class age 4 to 8 and all enjoyed them. Highly recommend this unit.
The child component for Click Unit 5: 5-7s is the Son of God 'scrapbook', an A4 magazine. There is a colourful page per session, with spaces for the 'photo' (provided) )and 'blessings shape' (a photocopiable) to be stuck, as well as spaces to write. Our children are eager to be given their Scapbooks, and are excited when it's time to do them. The various spaces on the pages create an anticipation when the children flick through their booklets.
With this child component, the contents of the Scrapbook reinforce the teaching in the session to a greater extent than some of the other child components for other Units, and we feel this one is very well worth using.
The number of children who attend our Children's Church on a Sunday morning fluctuates from two to eight (with an age range of three to ten), and only a small core attend each week. We decided to allocate our regulars their own Scrapbook, and have 'communal' ones for the children who only come occasionally - these communal ones are given to whichever child attends that day. We look after the Scrapbooks each week, and stick the 'photos' and 'blessings shapes' into the communal scrapbooks to keep them current.
My quibble would be that the paper of the Scrapbook is shiny, so using pencil and felt pen to fill things in is tricky - a non-glossy paper would work better.
Click is simply wonderful material and we, in a relatively small, young sunday school, are really appreciating it. Firstly and most importantly it is super clear about the gospel and always Jesus centric, secondly it is full of really age appropriate games, the kids material has drawn the children in easy term and they are proud when it is complete and there are really imaginative ways of handling the bible so the children stay engaged. I would say that sometimes I have had to source a craft if one isn't given and as with any material we have had to adapt to our space constraints, but otherwise it is incredibly easy for anyone to pick up and use. I would also say that we have a mixed ability and experience group aged 6-9 but find the age 5-7 material suitable. Thank you to the Good Book Co for providing this brilliant material.
We have been using Click at St. Nicholas Tooting for the last 18 months and have found it to be a great resource. I am very thankful to the writers and God for it.
It takes great care to correctly handle the word of truth, adding/subtracting from the bible only where necessary for clarity of the main teaching points and aims.
It has loads of ideas and material for each individual lesson, so you can pick and choose to your own style/situation. However they all try to reinforce the main teaching points which is a great help.
Do give it a try!
