Description

Fun lift-the-flap board book that motivates small children to use their ears in a Christ-like way.

This helpful and engaging training tool will help parents to teach their kids that God didn’t make their ears so that they could ignore instructions, but for positive things like hearing all kinds of noises and sounds, and especially to hear and obey God's word.

Not only will children be encouraged to follow Jesus’ example, but they’ll also be reassured that he loves us no matter what we do. He can forgive us when we fail and help us to change.

This book is part of a series called Training Young Hearts, that addresses the attitudes of the heart that underpin behaviour and explains how the gospel of grace enables us to change.

Parents, teachers, and other loved ones can refer back to these resources when specific behaviours need both to be corrected and to be connected to forgiveness, grace and growth.

One of the most important ways we can train young children is to teach them what is right as well as teach them what is wrong. In the Training Young Hearts series Abbey Wedgeworth faithfully shows children how to live while also telling them the good news of God’s grace. These board books are such an engaging (and fun!) way to teach big truths to young hearts.

This hands-on teaching book is just fabulous! My kids are all well out of the board book stage, but they enjoyed flipping through this one, and I love how rich and gospel-centered it is. Truly a delightful book!

“Good message for little people”

What are Ears For? helps even the youngest children learn that God is their Creator who made their ears and that we are to use them to listen to Him and glorify Him.

“Wonderful for little ones!”

These fun lift-the-flap board books teach young children through practical and age-appropriate examples how to use their ears in a Christ-like way. And with examples of what our ears are not made for, children also learn that no matter what they do, they can come to Jesus in prayer and ask for forgiveness and help to be more like Him.

This board book is rich in Biblical truth and engaging illustrations, making it the perfect gift for the little ones in your life.

Thank you, The Good Book Company, for my copy in an exchange for an honest review.

“Love this”

We love this series. We have the whole set and love each book without exception. It engages my 2 year-old in age appropriate ways and explains the Gospel in a way littles can grasp without inducing guilt or shame. There really is no other books out there like these.

“Another Excellent Book in the Series”

I LOVE this series as it's a great Christian equivalent to many of the lift-the-flap books on the market. It not only connects something as simple as our ears to Jesus and his example, but also talks to us about what we should be listening to: God's word. This is a brilliant present idea for your little one, or for a birthday for a 2-4 year old, although above and below this age would appreciate it I'm sure!

“Love this for little ones!”

What Are Ears For?

A simple board book with adorable illustrations and large flaps that are easy for the littlest of fingers. This book is part of the “Training Young Hearts” series that seeks to teach children about right behavior, repentance, and the gospel. This gospel-centered series takes simple concepts, such as hearing with our ears, and reminding children (and adults) for God’s good purpose in creating these things. This is such an excellent way to teach toddlers the importance of how we use our bodies - either to glorify God or disobey His Word.

This particular book focuses on ears. After acknowledging that God has given us ears and what their basic function is (hearing), the book goes on to how we can use our ears to listen to music, instructions, and God’s Word while also not using them to tune others out or listen to lies. These books also share the gospel at the end with pointing children to Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit to help them when they do sin. They’ve kept it child-friendly and at an appropriate level that toddlers will understand. The only thing I could think of to change would be to add Scripture verses for the truths on these pages. I think anytime we can lead children to actual Scripture, it’s extremely beneficial. It puts more power to the words because they’re not simply human words, but the inspired Word of God. I love books like this and think this is a fantastic discipleship tool that any Christian family would benefit from.

“God Hears Us”

The What Are Ears For? Board Book is lift-the-flap board book to help your kids hear like Jesus! It’s a beautiful way to show the connection between listening and obeying God.

God Hears Us

Emma Randall’s vibrant illustrations are wonderful. I was most moved to share with my children that God hears our prayers as well. This book is a great way to explore our bodies and how God created us to worship him.

I received a media copy of What Are Ears For? and this is my honest review.

“Love it”

We love this range! Beautiful and engaging book, with big flaps. Not only it talks about what ears are for but also what they aren’t for. Seamlessly integrated with Bible verses and compared to Jesus and God. Written in a way that even the smallest readers will understand and learn from. I honestly couldn’t remember this book enough.

“Timely addition to our home”

I have found these books to be extremely timely and helpful in the shepherding of our little ones hearts. I have three children under 6 and so sometimes, ears and eyes aren’t doing what I’d hope they’d be doing. These books have been just the tool we’ve (long) needed to bring a visual to the conversations we are consistently having around thinking of others and using our bodies to glorify God. Thank you Abbey for creating these incredibly practical tools which point our children’s hearts to Jesus and all he has done for them.

The books go through what our ears and eyes are for, what they are not for, that Jesus was once a child like them and that because of his loving sacrifice for us, we can say sorry and ask for his help. A wonderfully positive and clear message for our little ones. All with the assistance of the alluring lifting of the flaps ☺️

As a side note, I loved how inclusive the illustrations were too ♥️
