The children in the class are 6 years old. Whilst they are keen to complete the books, they are eager to do more than what is allocated for each lesson! The brighter children complete the activities with ease, and I have found with experience that some activities are far too easy and so always have another activity as an extra for when the book activity has been completed.
I have been using CLICK material in South Africa, but found that some of the activities in the Child's Component are a bit advanced for our 5 and 6 year old children. I have subsequently switched to the 3-5 year old material with great success. I recommend that those who find the activities too difficult for their non-readers consider using the material for the younger age-range. Our children absolutely loved it! This material was better suited for our 7 and 8 year olds.
Thank you so much for the fabulous material! Our teachers love using it!
Click's strengths are the good teaching - good doctrinally, usually wth appropriate vocabulary and concepts for children to understand, good development of the theme from week to week, good application such that children see the relevance to them - this is done very well and it is great each time a spontaneous discussion of the Bible passage flows from the children
..and the good range of activities to choose from.
The estimated age range is a bit optimistic in our experience (the artwork is appropriate to the age, but the comprehension level is for very able children. If unsure - choose the lower age range material.)
Lastly, it woul be great, in thefullness of time, if the units could be developed into a curriculum with corresponding units for the different ages perhaps?
Thank you for the Click material and Keep up the good work!
As ever, Click materials provided me with far more than I could use, which meant I could choose the activities that fitted best with my small group of 5 and 6 year-olds.
I very much enjoy the interactive nature of the material, the straightforward way the passage is presented and the inspired ways the children are helped to remember what they learn.
The only down-side on this occasion was the amount of writing involved in the workbooks especially for one new boy (who missed the adventure box take home and would have loved that!) who definitely was not keen on writing!
All in all well worth investing in. Thank you the CLICK team!
As someone who has to plan a Sunday school lesson almost every week, I really appreciate the way this series helps me do that with lots of good ideas for games and activities and story telling. I noticed today how much brighter and more interesting my 'classroom' looks since I started using Click, with all the posters and visual aids which come with the leaders pack. I do feel the story is usually a bit too involved for my fidgetty infants, and I have to precis it down quite a lot, but apart from that, I can't fault it!
Excellent material. Step by step guide through the lesson which gives confidence to less experienced leaders. Good biblical teaching with games and craft elements. Found that 5-7 material detailed enough for older children who don't have wide bible knowledge.
This has the potential to be great, but much of it was just beyond our group who were Reception (some admittedly only 4) to Yr 2 age. May be it's different in Australia but most children don't really get confident with writing until Yr 1 at the earliest. This made many of the pages inaccessible for our group, which was a shame. We did love the teaching material in the main manual though!
